These new PTZ cameras are great for both home and business camera installations.  The small size of the PTZ camera makes it easy to mount even in the eaves of your home without looking like a jail.  Because they are a weatherproof camera, they can be mounted right outside without any concern.  The ceiling mount bracket allows you to mount the camera to any ceiling or overhang.  It comes with a short bracket, but can be extended using a standard NPT thread extension rod, so that you can extend the mount of the PTZ dome camera so that it hangs lower if needed.

The PTZ-2201-10 included Wall Mount Bracket

The PTZ-2201-10 PTZ mini-dome camera also comes equipped with a wall mount bracket that can be used to mount the miniature PTZ dome camera on any wood, brick, siding or drywall wall inside or outside your home or business.    The 10x optical zoom module in the PTZ-2201-10 camera provides a good amount of zoom with auto-focus capabilities.  This allows you to use the camera as an extension of yourself, moving it around and zooming in as needed to get a closer view of what is happening at your home or business.  The low light capabilites of the PTZ-2201-10 mini PTZ Dome camera lets the camera see even in lower light conditions, which is great for dimly lit parking lots, rooms or driveways.

Outdoor Home Security Cameras with Nightvision

Security Cameras Provide Evidence of what happened

Many homeowners find out too late that they need video coverage of the outside of their home.  This is because some people just don’t respect your property like you would like them to.  So it is usually after theft or vandalism that a homeowner will realize that cameras would be very helpful outside of their home.  Usually this happens after they have already contacted the police about an event that has happened outside of their home.  Often it is due to vandalism, damage to a vehicle in the parking lot, annoying banging on the house or door at all hours of the night, theft, break-ins or more.  However, when the police arrive, unfortunately it is not like the scenes you see on CSI.  The police force does not have the manpower, budget or technology to conduct fingerprints, screen DNA or take more time or evidence to try to track down someone who committed a misdemeanor.  So in all reality, if you did not see them do it, or do not have any proof of who did it, then they will usually just fill out a report and head on their way.

This is one of the prime reasons that outdoor home security cameras are becoming very popular.  These cameras can record what happens in or around your home, to provide evidence that can be very useful if something happens.  That way, the next time your home becomes victim to vandalism or theft, you will have evidence of who committed the crime, and can provide the police with some evidence of your own.  Outdoor home security cameras can help take the guesswork out of what happened, and help deliver more peace of mind, allowing you to park your cars outside again.

CD-8161 Home Security Outdoor Dome Camera with Infrared IR Night Vision

Outdoor Home Security Camera with Infrared Night Vision

Most of our outdoor home security cameras also have infrared night vision capabilities, delivering the ability to see even in pitch black conditions at night.  Each of these cameras has various range of infrared night vision, but because we start with good low-lux (low light) image sensors, our infrared night vision home security cameras get the most out of the infrared light that reflects back to the camera to provide the best quality infrared night vision.  Some manufacturers will just throw IR LEDs onto a camera that has a basic image sensor that does not have low light capabilities, and call it a night vision camera.  But at Platinum CCTV, we always make sure to start with the lowest light image sensor available in the resolution class, so no matter which budget range you are shopping, we will have a good low light image sensor to suit your needs.

Security cameras are popular for home and business, but the best feature of our newer home and business security camera systems, are actually the ability to view your security cameras over the internet using PDA phones like the popular Android phones.  We have 2 different types of systems that offer Android security camera viewing, Standalone DVR systems and Alnet PC-Based DVR Systems.

Our H.264 Standalone DVR systems include a dedicated DVR unit, which will record from your home or business security cameras onto an internal hard drive.  This system is very simple to use, and self contained.  Simply plug your security cameras into the BNC connectors on the back of the DVR, and it will begin recording video onto the internal hard drive.  These H.264 Standalone DVRs come in 4, 8 and 16 channel versions and have motion detection recording to allow you to record only when somethin is actually happening.  These DVRs will also plug into the internet, and will allow you to connect into your DVR from your Android PDA phone over 3G, 4G or WiFi to view your home or business security cameras.  Our H.264 Standalone DVR models will allow you to stream live video from your home or business security cameras.  This type of system will also allow you to control any PTZ moving security cameras right from your Android PDA phone as well.

The second type of camera system is our Alnet PC-Based DVR System.  This security camera system uses your PC as a home or business security camera system.  It consists of a card and software that installs into your PC, then records from the cameras onto your PC.  The DVR Card plugs into a PCI or PCIe slot inside of the computer, and has BNC connectors that will stick out of the back of your PC to allow you to connect your cameras.  This software turns your PC into a professional grade security camera system with optimum quality video and improved features for remote viewing, including the ability to see live video on your Android PDA phone, as well as even playback video right on your Android phone.  The Alnet CMS Mobile software for Android allows you to connect to your cameras to view them live in real time, control PTZ cameras, control digital inputs and outputs, as well as playback video.  This software offers the best features for Android PDA users, in addition to iPhone, BlackBerry and Windows Mobile PDA phones.

View your Home or Business Security Cameras on iPhone

One of the most popular questions that we receive from customers on a daily basis when they are looking for a home or business security camera system, is “Can I view my security cameras from my iPhone?”  The answer to that question is Yes, but what features you get depends on the type of security camera system that you select.  We have several types of camera systems which support iPhone viewing.  The first is our Standalone DVR systems.  These DVRs provide remote viewing from your iPhone to stream live video onto your phone.  The next type of system is our Alnet PC-Based DVR systems.  These systems consist of a DVR Card and software that installs into your PC and allow for greater features from your iPhone including Live video from your camera(s), playback pre-recorded footage, control of inputs and outputs, and even view of multiple cameras at once.  The Alnet PC-Based systems have a much greater amount of processing power than standalone DVRS, which is why they can reprocess the video better, for better features remotely.  To see more about the differences, find out more about the iPhone Security Camera viewing here

Can I use my old cameras with a newer DVR?

Probably one of our most frequent questions that we receive from customers via email and over the phone, is ‘Can I use my old cameras with a newer DVR?’

Many homeowners and business owners are looking to upgrade their system to a newer style PC-Based DVR with DVR Card or a Standalone DVR that will allow them to view security cameras from their BlackBerry, Android PDA phones, iPhone, iPad or Windows Mobile PDA phones.  Our Standalone DVRs and PC-Based DVR Cards allow for this level of remote viewing.

BNC Connector for security camera

BNC connector for security cameras

To answer this frequent question: In MOST cases, YES you can use your existing cameras.  As long as your current cameras plug into your Time-Lapse VCR or DVR with a BNC style connector (shown to the right), then you will be able to use these cameras with our Standalone DVRs and PC-Based DVR systems.  If your system instead has a DVR that uses a proprietary DIN connection, then these cameras would have to first be adapted to a BNC connector prior to use…however these systems are becoming increasingly rare.  So for the fast majority of systems, you will be able to use your existing security cameras and simply upgrade your DVR to provide remtoe viewing capabilities.
